Dear Straight White Males,
We’re assuming there will be some talk that our policies are pandering to you. They’re not, but because they don’t exclude you, some people will say that’s pandering. But we both know better, don’t we?
We don’t fully understand how you’ve come to be so demonised in society. We at The Wise Party liked the world and society we grew up in — and if straight white men were the ones who shaped it, then we are grateful. However, we don’t think it was only straight white men, but we are constantly told that you’ve always been the ones in power, and we need laws to protect us from you.
But we know better. We already have laws that protect us, from people like you or anyone else. We don’t understand why you’re singled out. People seem to think this group consists solely of successful, privileged, stuffy individuals. But we know differently. Some of you are poor, very poor. Some of you have nothing, not even hope. You face struggles many of us can’t imagine, and you kill yourselves at an alarming rate. You don’t need to be demonised - many of you are already fighting too many demons of your own.
So, while we may not pander to you, we promise we will never punish you for the way you were born. WE will never take back my gratitude for what you have done. How many straight white men have fought in our armies, served as police officers, firefighters, or worked as doctors and nurses? Far, far more of you have made incredible contributions than those who are villainous.
Many times, when we’ve been lost, alone, or afraid, it has been a straight white male who "saved" us. If anyone thinks we will forget that or pretend it didn’t happen, they’re mistaken. Don’t get us wrong, straight white men have also sometimes been the reason we were lost, alone, or afraid. It’s a double-edged sword. But we believe the good members of your community, as with most communities, far outweigh the deeds of the few bad ones.
So, yeah, just to set the record straight: if you think we are the saviour of the straight white man, you’d be mistaken. But if you think we are your enemy or that we bear you any ill will, you’d be even more mistaken. You are our brothers, our sons, our fathers, our uncles, our cousins — my friends. We will always stand by you.
We are going to ask you for a favour. We are a bit lost, alone, and afraid right now. We are tired of our politicians and the games they’ve played at all our expense. We’re tired of complaining to politicians’ deaf ears. So, now, we are making sure they hear. For you, for all of us. But we can’t do this alone. We’re going to need your support.
We ask you to stand with me. Support us in whatever way you can. Speak up for us, as we will for you. Vote for this party if you ever get the chance. We won’t let you down.
