MAKING CLASSROOMS SAFER

Schools should be sanctuaries of learning, growth, and community. Yet, for years, they have become increasingly dangerous. Classroom violence has escalated, with teachers reporting rising aggression, students bringing weapons into schools, and in some tragic cases, children being murdered within the very walls that should have protected them.

We refuse to accept a future where schools become fortresses. The solution is not complicated; schools were once safer, not just because of what children were taught, but because of who was present. There was a time when families and teachers worked together, when children from all backgrounds grew up side by side, not as strangers, but as a community.

That connection has been lost. Parents have been pushed out, discipline has deteriorated, and schools have become insular. While politicians argue over bureaucratic policies, they ignore the simplest and most effective solution: bringing parents back into schools.

This is not a demand—it is an invitation. For those parents who graciously choose to participate, they will receive a small monetary compensation as a token of appreciation. This is about restoring discipline, rebuilding trust, and ensuring that schools are places where every child has the best chance to thrive.

Problems

  • A Long-Term Rise in School Violence, Including Murders

Violence in schools has not emerged overnight. For years, assaults, stabbings, and fatal attacks have become more common within school walls. Schools, which should be places of safety, have instead become the site of tragic deaths. In Sheffield, a 15-year-old boy was fatally stabbed inside a classroom. Glasgow saw another teenager killed near his school in a separate knife attack.

  • The Breakdown of the Parent-Student-Teacher Relationship

Parents were once active participants in their children’s education, reinforcing discipline, respect, and community values. Over time, they have been pushed out, leaving schools to struggle with deteriorating discipline and rising tensions. The absence of parental involvement has weakened the social bonds that once made schools places of stability and unity.

  • The Decline of Discipline in Schools

As parental presence has dwindled, authority in the classroom has weakened. Teachers are overwhelmed, students face fewer consequences for bad behaviour, and violence has flourished in the absence of strong adult supervision. Schools should be places of structure and order—without it, they become chaotic and unsafe.

Solutions

  • Restoring Parental Presence in Schools to Improve Safety and Discipline

Parents will be invited (not required) to assist in schools one day a week, reinforcing discipline and discouraging violence. Their presence will naturally deter bullying, gang-related behavior, and classroom disruptions. A consistent adult presence helps establish authority, ensuring that schools remain places of order rather than chaos. As a token of appreciation, participating parents will receive a small monetary compensation, acknowledging the valuable role they play in creating a safer school environment.

  • Rebuilding the Parent-Teacher-Student Relationship

To restore the connection between families and schools, dedicated funding will be provided to strengthen the bond between parents, teachers, and students. Schools will introduce new programs that encourage parental involvement, improve communication, and ensure a shared responsibility for discipline and education. By fostering collaboration, schools will no longer function in isolation, and discipline will once again become a collective effort between educators and families.

  • Providing Support for Parents Who Need It

Not all parents feel confident about managing disengaged or unruly children, and many would benefit from guidance. Voluntary resources and parental guidance classes will be made available—not as an intervention, but as a means of support for those who want to improve school attendance, discipline, and home life. By equipping parents with the tools to reinforce positive behaviour at home, we strengthen the school environment and ensure that discipline extends beyond the classroom.

We know that schools must be places of safety, order, and learning. We will restore that—together.

By bringing parents back into schools, we will strengthen the bond between teachers, students, and families, restoring discipline and responsibility in every classroom.

This is not just a request—it is a call to action. The solution is not just in the hands of politicians or schools; it is in all of us. It takes a village to raise a child, and only through the combined efforts of families, teachers, and communities can we make schools safer and more supportive places for every child.

Politicians may have struggled to find a way forward, but we know the solution. It is us. All of us. Including you.
